Hi everybody,

I have a Mystique SaTiX-S2 V2 CI Dual with its Mystique CI. Is it true that the Mystique CI is able to decode channels from only one tuner simultaneously? Is it possible to replace the Mystique CI with another CI so both tuners are able to decode streams? I want to be able to record one channel and watch another.

    Hi and welcome Electuur :)

Is it true that the Mystique CI is able to decode channels from only one tuner simultaneously?
The short answer to your question is *no* that is not true. The CI can be shared allowing each tuner to decode one channel at a time. Since the card has two tuners you can decode two channels (with a compatible CAM). That means that the card allows you to record one channel and watch another which is what you want. :)

I guess you have been reading about "multichannel decoding" on the "supported TV cards" page in the wiki? The description for multichannel decoding says:

Multichannel decoding is the ability to decrypt multiple channels from a single transponder/multiplex with a single tuner.

The SaTiX has two tuners. Each tuner can only decrypt one channel at a time. That is why the wiki says that the SaTiX does not support the feature. In other words, the "multichannel decoding" mentioned on the wiki is not the same as the MTD ("multi transponder decryption") supported by Digital Devices and Mystique. You can read further under the description for the "multichannel decoding" feature.

    Hello,

If I use the Mystique configuration tool to join the CAM to the tuners, there is a checkbox for both tuners. If I enable one checkbox, I am able to decode and record one channel , and watch a free to air channel. In the TV server configuration, only the cam menu of the corresponding tuner can be opened. If I enable both check boxes in the Mystique configuration tool, I am able to watch free to air channels only, and no encrypted channels. For both tuners, the corresponding cam menu’s can’t be opened.

Any suggestion what the solution may be?

    Hi again

It is possible that the problem is with your CAM - not all CAMs are able to support the DD/Mystique MTD feature. Did you make sure that you restarted the TV Server (or even the PC to be "safe") after changing the setting in the Mystique software? I would need to see logs to be able to help any further...

    Log Files - MediaPortal Wiki

Please enable the CAM on both tuners, restart the PC, then follow the instructions to start a test session. Once MP is started, try to view a free channel, then try to view a scrambled channel. After that close MP and post the log zip file.

    Thanks,
    mm

    Hello mm,

As you request. Here are the log files. If the CAM is causing the problem, is it possible to use a generic (USB) smart card reader, with software to emulate the CI end CAM. I think this would be a much cheaper and flexible solution. Could you suggest a good smart card reader?

    Thanks,
    Electuur

    Hi again Electuur

I'll take a look at the logs but I've got no comment for you regarding readers other than this:

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/mdapi-softcam-support-again-12620/

Our team policy is not to endorse or allow discussion of that topic on these forums. Sorry and I hope you can understand why we have taken that position.

    mm

[Edit: okay, I checked the logs - I don't see anything particularly wrong except that TsWriter reports that the stream is still scrambled. I think this is a CAM compatibility problem. What kind of CAM are you using? I'd suggest you report the issue to Mystique.]

    Hello mm,

Sorry I asked about the generic smart card reader. I hadn’t thought about those consequences.
The text on the top side of my CAM is as follows:
OFFICIAL PRODUCT, CANAL DIGITAAL SATELLIET, TV VLAANDEREN DIGITAAL, MEDIAGUARD LICENSED.
Some of the information on the bottom:
WWW.SCMMICRO.COM, a bar code and a pin number with Rev 1.3, a few logo’s, the text: This officially licensed module with smartcard gives access to encrypted DVB/MPEG2 services. SCM Microsystem patented technology.

Maybe the CAM is to old. I don't know.

    Thanks,
    Electuur

    Electuur,

I read that people who replaced the CanalDigitaal (or tv vlaanderen) CAM by the Astoncrypt Dual have some success to decode 2 channels at a time. However be aware that some hardware version of this Astoncrypt (like mine is hardware 1.000 for the 2nd rev CAM) are not compatible with Cines S2 or mystique card also you need firmware version 2.23 or better 2.26
If you are lucky it will work, best is to order such a CAM and return it immediatly if that does not work. check out dvbshop.net for example.

    Good luck.

Just forgot to mention that CANALDIGITAAL and TV Vlaanderen official CAM do not support dual channel decoding.

    Hello,

I don't think it is a hardwareproblem. With the Mystique TV player a am able to Record NED1 and view RTL4 simultaniously.
