Do any of you have a way to make this possible ?
I would like to option to re-start MP from within MP.
Currently it is possible to either shutdown your HTPC alltogether, or just exit out of MP. What i was wondering if is there was a way to have an option to re-start MP.

I hope i am making sense...

    cheers

I currently have a key combination set to run restart.vbs which is found in the Mediaportal Application folder. Handy when MP suffers a crash. I also use this to run a script which switches my screen between my projector and LCD monitor, and then restarts MP using restart.vbs.

I am guessing it is for the same reason I needed something similiar. When my system resumes from S3 MP is only filling the left 1/3rd of the screen. I use eventghost for remote control anyway, so I have EG run a cmd that runs W7 Killtask to close MP and then relaunch it. Takes only a few seconds and MP is fullscreen again.

Could you please explain why you want this option?

    Hey Spragle...

When i resume from S3, sometimes TV doesn't work. Restarting MP solves this ( no need to reboot entire machine, just MP ).

Do you have something like MPTray installed? then, once MP has exited, you can use the menu button to relaunch it?

I don't have MPTray installed, but i guess i could try it. I would prefer it to be from within MP tho...

    Doesn't it ( restart.vbs ) reboot the entire machine ?

    Thanks guys... :)

    Did you see:
Restart MediaPortal on resume (Default: off)
This will prevent stuttering playback with nVidia videocards.
    MediaPortal/Configuration/General - MediaPortal Manual Documentation
    :)

I did, but this does not apply.

I do not put my HTPC into standby, only the server.
When HTPC turns on, it wakes up the server with WOL. Problem is that TV does not always work and a restart of MP client is required ( only MP, not complete reboot ).

Anyway, the problem is solved by using 1.1.0 RC1 and MPTray. I was using 1.1.0 Alpha until now

Thanks for the help guys ! :)
