Option to Shutdown external player when stopping a movie (1 Viewer)

Hi there. No complaints just a request.

I'd like an option that will shut down the external player when stop is pressed.

I just recently gave up on fussing with having the right decoder installed and setup up correctly, I was wasting too much time. So I decided to try VLC which played great but can't be controlled by the MCE remote. So I have been using GOM player and it works great except that when I'm finished with a movie and I press stop the program just sits there and I have the get my keyboard and close the program. It would be great to have the program shut down and focus returned to media portal when I pressed stop.

MediaPortal has no control over or understanding of the workings of the external player.

It would have no way of knowing if the button press was intended for the external player or for it.

What you need is something like Girder, HIP, Eventghost, etc...

A third app that handles the remote control and performs actions based on what program is in use...

There's no app for MCE remote? how crappy, i just successfully setup my Hauppauge 45 button remote to work with VLC and Zoom Player. GoGo Hauppauge!

yeah there is, I think you misunderstand what I'm saying.

realjag wants to control (in this case close) the external player app when it finishes.

MediaPortal can't do this for him because MediaPortal doesn't control external apps.

To control an external app there are a myriad of solutions available that are compatible with the MCE remote ...

Girder, EventGhost, HIP, UICE, IntelliRemote, IR Server Suite, and more than I can be bothered naming ...

And of those, many are free. HIP and EventGhost are both free and exceptionally good, and I have written IR Server Suite (also free and Open Source) specifically for MediaPortal but able to control your whole PC.
