Oracle takes over MySQL - will MySQL die or cost money? (1 Viewer)

Hi MP-Fans and -Developers,

I've just read that Oracle wants to take over Sun, and with it the rights of MySQL also = its biggest open-source, free contrahent. It could mean that all new Mediaportal users have to go for Microsoft SQL. But at the moment everything is uncertain (maybe MySQL remains free...)

Other possibility would be PostgreSQL, the other big free SQL project.

I know, this is a bit too early to worry about uncertain problems in the future but who knows... I have my MySQL installation file archived on my harddrive for sure

I don't think we have anything to worry about, Oracle is a big players in the open-source arena and will most probably keep it open-source....
