I would like the ability to password protect a folder so say you leave your PC for younger people, and have your movies sorted by ratings, it'd be nice to lock the R and PG-13 Directorys so they can only get to the G and PG folders, unless they have a password so they could get into the PG-13 movies

Any additional Ideas?

You can already pin protect folders. You just cannot pin-protect by ratings. Seems like a sensibile idea (providing the ratings data is there).

I was just using the ratings as an example, what I meant is have a "Movies" folder which would be un passworded, then a "Stuff" folder which would be passworded to protect against from younger viewers/un-privaleged viewers.

If this is possible, can you show me where becuase I couldn't find out how.

In the my movies config area you will find "shares". Press edit on a share, and you will see an option to pin-protect this folder.

The problem with this one is it's still displayed in the database browser. And let's think of a situation where the cover of the movie is erm.. not really PG.. You don't want it to be displayed, do you?
Yes, it asks you for the pin when you click on the movie, but it should not display movie from the DB if the share is PIN protected (that should be made optional I believe).

Database view works differently to shares view. The shares pin only protects entrance to the logical folder, so that wont affect the files when Database view is used.

And unlike Shares view, if something not suitable is listed, it would still be visible even if it had a pin.

I dont think it will work as you want unless you remove the database view.

Well, due to the way that MediaPortal handles Pin-coded folders, you cannot see the files unless you input a correct PIN anyways now that I have that set up. so it seems work for what I needed it to. Now my only problem is going to my pictures, mediaPortal decides to crash.
