PC to TV connections (1 Viewer)

Hi

Very new to this. I can't seem to find much info about how to connect the PC to my TV.
Do not have MP installed yet...still trying to learn a little more.

I have music on my PC and movies on a USB portable HD. The PC is remote
from the TV and I would appreciate suggestions regarding how to connect the two.

My TV does not have an ethernet port so I was considering a ROKU or similar.
I would connect my router and ROKU via a NETGEAR XETB1001 85 MBit/s Powerline Network Adapter
This way I should have network access from the ROKU. I would hope that this would give me the
access I am after.....however....I read elsewhere on the forum that it's not that simple, ie ROKU
will not allow the network access.

I only suggest ROKU as an example. Essentially, I want to access my PC from my TV.

Other suggestions welcome.

The idea behind MediaPortal, is that your PC itself becomes the set-top-box.

Therefore, to connect your PC to your TV, you simply connect an HDMI cable between your PC and TV (or other suitable cable for video and audio as appropriate for your TV/PC combination).

If your main server (with TV Tuner cards and movie storage) is located in a different room, then you can either run long video/audio cables to your TV, or buy another small "client" PC which you locate with your TV and the client and server communicate over your home network (using the homeplugs).

AW: PC to TV connections

Hi,
MediaPortal is Windows based Software to handle and show different Media-files on a TV-Screen by a DIRECT connection (HDMI,DVI,VGA)! MP is not to able to use as a UPNP Server as a ROKU.
So MP and ROKU are complete different to use.
