Hi Guys,

Please bear with me, Mediaportal newbie here.

I have ripped some of my DVDs to individual VOB files but I am trouble playing some of them with mediaportal.

After some digging, I noticed that the problem only lies with VOB files that contain a PCM audio track. Files with AC-3 or other audio formats playback fine.

The problem with the PCM audio when playing back the file is that the video plays in kind of slow motion and the audio is horrible, as if a empty audio frame was inserted between each valid audio frame.

Has anyone experiencee this or have any hints for me?

Thanks

Jack

    Thanks Owls,

Not sure how to insert my system specs when replying to a post though but I here's a summary:
    mediaportal 1.1.0.0 w/ no customizations
    Vista Ultimate 64 bits
    9GB RAM DDR3
    Corei7 920 @ 2.7GHz
ATI Radeon HD4870 with latest drivers

    I have attached the logs.

I am not sure how to check which codec WMP uses but ffdshow is installed so I guess it pretty much takes over everything.

I cannot play the separate VOB files in Media Player, reports an error that it cannot navigate the DVD structure, but if I rename the files to MPG, WMP plays them just fine, but mediaportal still has the same issue with them.

I enabled OSD for video decoding in ffdshow and I noticed that the decoder is only going at 19-20 FPS. That would definitely cause the jerkyness I am seeing/hearing but WMP can play it fine when I rename it to MPG. So the issue does not seem to be codec related. Mediaportal is the only app that cannot decode it fast enough for playback.

try add ac3filter or ffdshow audio codecto post processing in videos config (note dxva will still work as this is audio postprocessing)

if using ffdshow set it to re-encode the pcm to ac3 on the fly
