Ive read that a PIP will be implimented into MP2 and im wondering how it will work exactly.

In Australia we have several channels that come through one transponder(i think thats how you say it), so that I can watch "ABC1" and record "ABC2" at the same time with only 1 tv tuner device.

Will PIP work the same in that i can watch 2 channels from the one transponder at the same time? Or will it need 2 tuners to accomplish PIP?

PiP is a generic feature of MP2's player architecture.

This means you have 2 "Player slots" that can be used to play 2 video streams, independent from the source.

This can be: 1 local video file + 1 rtsp-TV-Stream, 2 TV Streams, 1 video stream + 1 picture player etc.

Regarding the Tv tuning capabilities there are no changes to MP1: if you are currently able to tune/record multiple programs on one transponder, you can do this in MP2 SlimTv client as well (this plugin uses the TvServer of MP1).

For FTA channel you should be able to watch 2 channels one one transponder, if you have scrambled channels it depends on the CAM limitations.

Have some questions you hopefully can answer regarding "Picture in Picture" support
    • Will MP2 support more than 2 simultaneous TV-channels in PiP?
      • As an sportsfreak here, I would love to see 4 channels play at the same time(would fit nice on Tv with 4xratio).
      • Will there be Timeshift for all streams? (possible to rewind/pause all tv channels?)
    • Will be nice to see a keymap for quick hotswapping between PiP windows. (Press 1 on remote for getting PiP(1) in Fullscreen etc.)
    • Possible to toggle sound on the PiP windows and/or having several outputs to define
    Thanks in advance

The player controller is in principle able to control an unlimited number of players (Video background takes internally use of this). But the features in GUI do only support 2 streams (master+PiP). It's unlikely to be changed in short term.

Each (TV-) stream is timeshifted and can be controlled (seek).

Yes, this is implemented (I think "yellow" key is mapped)

The active audio stream can be chosen from player configuration dialog. There can be only one audio stream active.

    :)
