Pinnacle 300i Hardware or Software Encoding? (1 Viewer)

Hy I have a amd 2500 xp with 1 gig ram and 320GB harddisk and a pinnacle 300i, I installed the latest drivers but still mp runs quite bad when i put tv on. I think this comes because of my tv card. Can someone please tell me if this pinnacle 300i is a software encoding or hardware encoding card?????? Maybe if bought a haupage or something that it would work better???? It does work do but when i put tv guide on while watching full screen tv it's starts to shock and the system get's so slow. (this not only with tvguide with everithing actually)
