MediaPortal Version: 0.2.2
Windows Version: Windows XP Professional SP2
CPU Type: Intel Celeron 3.2GHz
Memory: 1 GB
Video Card: NVidia 6200 something
Sound Card: Integrated, AC97 ???
1. TV Card: Pinnacle PCTV Hybrid Pro PCI (PCTV 310i)

I just bought the card in subject. I can successfully use it with Included Pinnacle Media Center (ver. 4.5) but I do not like this SW. I'd better have Media Portal. After installation I a known error: No capture card found. I downloaded suggested DBA driver from Pinnacle, but it says: "You do not have Windows XP Media Center. Cannot install."
I searched this forum and found a lot of tips on getting this card work. But the information are a little "inconsistent".

I'd be really glad, if some could help me with it. My goal is to have only Media Portal (I plan to uninstall the Pinnacle thing after I make it run).
1. Do I really nead the extra driver from Pinnacle to run Media Portal with my card? Where to get it, when the original one is only for Windows Media Center?
2. Do I need to do some modifications to the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml? Can you give me complete listing for all the parts (analog, DVB, radio)?

Thanks a lot.

Same here.... any helpers?

Sorry Tom - no solution to your problem from my side. Instead, I'm having similar issues here. Bought the Pinnacle Hybrid Pro (310i) since it's on the supported list, but can't get it to work. Setup util says "No cards found"...

I have two remaining guesses why this is:
1) Possibly remaining garbage after having installed the ANALOG PRO first. Shouldn't really be an issue as I believe it's the same driver set....? I'd like some input before reverting to a full XP reinstall...
2) The card is installed in my ASUS Pundit P1-AH2 barebone system on a daughterboard. Not sure that should ever be an issue, but who knows...

Could anyone give any pointers to what to try or which settings to change, please? Help would be very much appreciated. I've been a happy MP user on another system with a full size Hauppage card, but that one doesn't fit in the ASUS case :-(

Thanks! Vincent

I have that card and I use it without problems.

Do you experience that problem with dvbt part, analog or both?

If you use the analog part you need a software encoder, as the card does not produce a mpeg2 stream. You can use the intervideo (trial versione here)

If you have problem even with dvbt part, maybe there's a problem with drivers. I know that there are new drivers supplied with latest versions of pinnacle media center. I saw somewhere in this forum the new tv card definition.

If you want I could send you the old drivers, the ones I use without problems.

    Bye!

    Thanks Pierre!

    I have an update:
    - Using the latest daily build now
    - Noticed that I DID have two driver versions installed, and found out that:
    - v1.3.3.0 let's MP recognize the DVB card
    - v1.3.3.5 does NOT

Which driver version are you using?

So you were right about the versions, HOWEVER:
I seem to not be able to use this card in analog mode... it looks as if MP only recognizes it as a DVB card. I haven't yet installed that software encoder (bummer! thought this was a hardware encoding card) but I suppose I should at least be able to scan the channels without the software MPEG, right? I'll try that trial download - see if that helps.

I am new to digital broadcasts and actually only bought this card because it was on the supported hw list. I intended to use the analog side. Perhaps I'm missing something in the MP setup?

Thanks for the reply - any further pointers appreciated!

No, if you don't have the sw encoder filter you won't be able even to scan channels. MP should find the card, but any action should lead to "unable to connect filters".

    Try with intervideo.

    Pierre, thanks.

Finally got some time to continue experimenting, and.... no luck. I did install the Intervideo trial, and it seems to command the card fine with its own client sw. It got the analog tuning figured out, and autoscanned within minutes.

Come MediaPortal and no such luck. The Release 0.2.2 doesn't recognize the card. The daily build does, but installing the Intervideo hasn't helped. To me it looks as if the card definition only recognized the DVB-T part of the card while I'm trying to get it to work with the analog signal.

Do you have analog reception working? If so, how? Could you send me your card definition XML as I got stuck with the GraphEdit thing. I couldn't find an analog receiver component (or so it seemed)......

    Thanks a lot!

I also had that problem. MP found my Digital card but not analogue card.
But after i used GraphEdit and played a little with "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml" i got my analogue part to work.
If you want to know i can post my "CaptureCardDefinitions.xml" config.

But im having problems with Audio out of sync in MP. And MP does not find ALL my analogue channels (i have about 20 channels MP only finds like 12 of them). And even if i input missing channels manually by inserting frekvency and such.. still cant view them.

But in Pinnacle Studio all analogue channels are found and work perfectly perfect audio sync.

    Hi,

I also have the Pinnacle 310i. Please can the Media Portal people help regarding this card. My computer cant find it when I use Media Portal although it is in your list of cards. The card works fine with the Pinnacles software although even with this I had to manualy detect the card to get it to recognise the card. If it is in my computer why cant Media Portal see it?

    Hi,

No news yet. I think the Media Poprtal people must still be in bed! But I have used Vista Ultimate 32 and this works fine with Windows Media Centre. But I would like it to run with the Media Portal under Windows XP Pro.

    All the best
