play music automatically when start MP? (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

Normally, MP starts into a 'home' screen' where we can go into 'My TV' or 'My Video' from. Just want to know if I can make MP start into 'My Music' and play the songs on the playlist automatically. I have MP automatically starts when Windows boots, I have a big TV connected to the MP PC, would be good if I can play music without having to turn on the TV.

Hello medaust,

if you are using TV-Engine 2 you can activate a checkbox in the radio channel configuration. This channel then is played automatically when you run MediaPortal. Given the fact that I am using TVE3 I cannot give you more details on this, just have a look into the configuration for this

Try the modified Autostart plugin, do not know if this still works, as have not used for a long time, but may do what you want.

It might be nice if it does not work with current MP if someone would fix.

Sorry I dig up this old thread. But that is exactly what I want MediaPortal to do when it starts up: Play music.

I tried the Autostart_fixed/. You can select "myMusic" and one Folder to start from.

When starting Mediaportal, the Folder is displayed- but thats it. No sound file is being played. So this plugin does not really have a useful function. Instead it should rather play one random file of the folder!

Nobody? How did you setup MediaPortal than? I do not want to have to grab my remote and turn on the TV every time I started my HTPC.
So this seems to be a vital aspect to me - I am surprised nobody is into this.

This has all changed in latest mediaportal svn, you can get MP to load last used module or turn straight to fullscreen TV on start.

It's all in the config.

Thanx for the info. But I simply cannot find that option. Checked the latest stable (MediaPortal-update-0.2.0.4.exe) and the nightly build (MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot: 01-29-2008 05-04) but there was no option as you mentioned.

Also tried the autostart plugin with these versions but they dont seem to work anymore.
