Play recordings on xbox360 (1 Viewer)

I am new to HTPC stuff but need to know if this is possible. I assume I can get things to work on a pure WindowsMCE box but want to avoid that and instead use gbpvr or other type software (mediaportal etc).

Assume I am running a PC with MP which records my TV shows. I assume these will be saved as MPEG-2 (what the hardware encoder card does) in .mpg extension.

I have XBOX360 networked into the home network (and the HTPC is also networked and able to share the appropriate folder with xbox) and want to be able to play the saved videos on the xbox. Xbox support says that it supports .avi, .mp4, and .wmv to play via media blade by using WMP V11 media sharing.

Can MP (or via plugin) save in a compatible format, or automatically convert into the format readable to the xbox?

I have tested Beyond TV and it had the capability to automatically convert (in the background) to .avi, right after the recording was donem and this allowed me to watch the video on the xbox.

Can you tell me if this is possible and if so, how?

Thanks

(If it won't work automatically, I guess the only option is a third-party recoder which I would have to run scheduled every night to convert over to .avi or wmv ....perhaps tveristy??)

PS I do not want to run MP on the xbox which seemed to be all I could find in questions on this subject in past posts.

Thanks!

You can use Tversity, www.tversity.com, to stream media to your xbox360. Works like a dream. Tversity does transcoding for the media formats not supported by the xbox360.

I figured tvsersity was an option but I would still like to know if there is the option to auto-compress or auto-convert so that I can have the software do the conversion after each recording.

    Thanks
