i dont think that this will work but its worth a try. You can test the hint from oowlsroost (THREAD) with the new dshowhelper. I wanted to try this myself the last weeks but hasn't got time...and i think i dont want to break something :). This dshowhelper uses the queued mode in Aero/DWM which may give some improvements for video playback and other applications that uses Aero/GDI.

Thanks, I just tried them all out and there is a definite improvement (Aero turned back on). I couldn't notice any difference between versions 78 and 84, version 92 seemed worse on my system. Will live with version 78 for a while and see how it goes.

    Thanks again (y)

Well, the problem seems to be fixed :)

I have done a clean install of Windows 7, and at the same time installed a new release of the ATI drivers (12.3).

MediaPortal's auto refresh rate changer now works first time, without me having to set presets in ATI CCC. And, the renderer stats (shift+1) are automatically detecting the refresh rate of the tv and not of the second monitor. So, playback seems smooth and the renderer graph nice and flat.

Hopefully, things will continue this way!
