Hi Guys,

First of all just a few general things about my system.

Win 7
MP 1.2.3 (Latest)
Streamed MP

The machine where I am experiecing problems gets the files from a server on the network so the files arent there on this one.

Basically the issue is as follows. I open MP and I notice it seems a bit laggy. When I go to watch a movie (through MovingPictures) it takes ages for the movie to actually start playing and then it seems to stutter. The same happens when I just watch a video or just watch a tv ep (through the tv ep plugin).

I do not know why this is occurring and it has me really stumped.

If I open the file to play in windows media player there is no lag at all, it actually plays fine so I do not understand why MP is having a problem??

Move the video file over to the local m\c you want to play on, now does it stutter in MP, if not then it seems to be a network issue, if it does, then its a MP\gpu\codec problem.

I dont think it is a network issue. I played the file from the remote server in Windows Media Player and there was no stuttering.

    Would supplying logs help?

Okay, I was finally able to get a file onto the local HDD and the same thing happened.

During the today I uninstalled and reinstalled MediaPortal on numerous occasions in an attempt to troubleshoot what is occurring.

I did a complete uninstall of everything MP related and tried to start from scratch.

I then reinstalled MP. And after that I installed the theme Streamed MP.

Once I did that I started configuring all my settings, I think I noticed something though.

When configuring the setteings I first setup the TV series plugin (forget what its called, comes with theme). I went through that process all fine and the cover art etc all downloaded fine. At this point I played a file to see what was happening. And it worked fine (file from remote location). I played a few other files and the playback was all fine as well.

I then went to configure Moving Pictures. I attached the file path to where my movie files are located and proceeded to wait for the Movie Importer to do its thing.

Once that was done I reopened MP and tried to watch a video. The jumpy playback was back again.

This issue is really confusing. Could it be Moving Pictures?

Well, we don't know anything about your system, so it is impossible to help you. Please look for the bug reporting guidelines, and post logs as if you were reporting a bug.

So, if you have a video file in 'mptvseries' it plays fine, but one in 'movingpictures' does not? Is there any difference in the type of file (resolution, bitrate, encoding)?

Okay I will get those things to you :)

No that is not exactly right. In mptvseries the files plays fine. However, once I configure moving pictures stuttering playback occurs in movingpictures as well as the on mptvseries. The file I tested in mptvseries before configuring movingpictures now is also jumpy.

Very odd. It does sound as though MovingPictures is causing a problem. Could it be that you have a very low spec system, and database access is causing this?
