Hi all,

I'm running mp1.15 on Windows 10. Can't find a way to play 3D blurays? I've installed MP3D but apparently it's not compatible with above mp1.8 and is not working.

When I'm playing the 3D bluray, i get a 2d image and can't figure about how to activate 3D.

Thanks all

As I understand it the Auto 3D plugin is only suitable for Side by Side or Top over Bottom 3D formats it does not work with Bluray (frame packed) 3D. To play 3D blurays (original disk and ripped .iso or .mkv) you need MP 1.16pr with the latest LAV filters and Madvr. N.B. To play an actual 3D disk the BD-J feature which is included in this release must be disabled and you will also need a decryptor , you won't get any menus but it should play the movie. If you wan't to stay on 1.15 you will need an external 3D capable player like PowerDVD.

Thanks a lot, took me some time to understand that auto3D won't fix my problem. So let's say i upgrade to 1.16pr, does it include madvr or is that something seperate that i will have to install? So i need to get the latest lav or does it come with the 1.16pr?

About the decryptor, what exactly is that? I can already decrypt bluray discs or do i need something else for 3D? Like what?

Given that 3d has been around for so long, i thought it would have been straight forward. Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

Sorry but Madvr is a seperate download and install, LAV does come with the MP install but you need to make sure you get at least ver. 0.69.0 plus the additional 3D codecs (all freeware), see here at the bottom of the first post, plus some usefull info.
BTW if you feel unsure about the upgrade to 1.16pr +++ the rest of the stuff or don't want to disturb your setup, a good stepping stone would be to try out MPC-HC player (also freeware) which when setup with LAV (I think the latest version comes with ver 0.69 LAV but you will need to check that) and Madvr will also play bluray 3D either standalone or as an external player in MP 1.15.:sneaky:

No nothing extra required for 3D, if you can already decrypt a bluray that will be fine.:)

Yes although 3D playback has been arround for a long time it is only with a non-freeware commercial players like PowerDVD or the much loved but not Win 10 compatible TMT 6. It is only very recently though that the LAV/Madvr freeware option will support Bluray 3D.
There are a number of guides available in the internet for setting up MPC-HC with Madvr and LAV/ Madvr settings are much the same for MP, take a look here, but there are others possibly newer if you Google.
Thanks for your help, appreciate it.
You're most welcome, let me know if you need more.

One last question actually, do you know when the final 1.16 version will be available?

    Thank you

We kept delaying it to fix issues but it should be out on Monday hopefully.

Here is the way I do 3D with MP1:
    • Rip your BD3D with DvdFab, typically in FHD Side By Side for high quality playback on UHD TV.
    • If you need subtitles use MakeMKV to rip your BD again and remux both MKV with the MKVToolNix.
    • Use MP1 with Auto3D plug-in for playback.
