simply put, I have a dvd ripper and I rip to img files. is there a way for media portal to play these files? I know I can play them in vlc player but I need to know if this sw can play them natively or if told how to. thanks in advance.

Yes, but you have to install Deamon Tools and enable it in MP config. Then you have to add the .IMG (and .ISO, .NRG) to the movie file extension. After that you only had to select an IMG file from Movies and Deamon Tools will automount it and then you can play the movie (or make it autoplay). Look here.
Works like a charm.

so youre saying I have to associate those file extentions with daemon tools and then mp will automatically refer to that when playing? the link you pointed me to doesnt really show me anything. thanks in advance. by the way I literally just associated the .iso extention with daemon tools and now it says error in the command line when I try to play it.

No, the ISO extension should be registred as a movie extension in MP configuration, like .MPG .AVI and so on. You shouldn't associate ISO with Deamon tools, thats allready working. The thing is to tell MP that .ISO files is a movie.
I found another page in the Wiki, here.

thanks I figured it out with your second post. now I hope it works. I know the weather images dont work and I am wondering if this program is really finished. regardless its certainly better than media center in vista. yikes. mouse control doesnt work when you watch dvd and theres no way to stop the dvd itself. as another poster said, this program is not ready for prime time.
