I agree that playing VOBs would be great. I realize that MP developers chose WMP engine for a reason, whatever reason might be, I'm not in a position to question it. Afterall, MP is still the greatest HTPC app in my books. It is unfortunate that WMP doesn't play VOBs, but one must realize that MS doesn't want you to rip DVDs, welcome to DRM world. Wait till Vista is out, it'll be much worse. What would be cool is if MP developers got together with MPC developers and integrated MPC into MP, with all bells and wistles, remote control, on screen display, etc. Back to the subject: somehow on 2 out of 4 PCs I built, VOBs can be played in WMP and also in MP, but on the other 2 it doesn't work. I spent days trying to compare everything, all software components, ran graphedit, regmon / filemon, you name it. Can't figure out why it works on 2 PCs. I know it's not supposed to work normally in WMP, but somehow it works on some PCs. However, when VOBs do play in WMP, navigation is all messed up, if you attempt to jump to next chapter or fast forward, it would stop playing, but if you just play from beginning, you can watch whole movie, really wierd... There must be some software piece I overlooked, because hardware is identical. If someone knows what makes VOBs play in WMP, let me know before I pull my last hairs out :D
