Please tell me how to map key storkes to my remote. I'm using VLC as my player, so I can play all video types easily (mkv,mp4,...). I can't fast forward or rewind using the remote while in the movie. VLC shows the hotkey as Ctr + right arrow as a medium jump forward. So, how can I map a Ctrl + right arrow to my Fast Forward key on my remote???

This would require you to change the commands/keystrokes generated by the remote as MP doesn't have any influence on VLC. You could use something like EventGhost to do that, or if your remote is a learning remote then you may be able to reprogram it. We probably can't help you further than that because you haven't mentioned what kind of remote you have.

Why using VLC to play your mkv, mp4?
MP can handle all file formats the same as VLC, when i also started using MP i did not want to let go of VLC, with good config/codec they are just the same.
