Hi,
First of all use coretemp for reading cpu temps directly from the cores. Second I don't think your motherboard (as most nforce430 Gigabyte based boards that I know of ) has an option for voltage so don't look around in vain.

The usual cool pc setup includes two case fans in a push-pull order with the cpu fan in the middle blowing towards the "exhaust" case fan. Just use low rpm fans since it's an htpc and u'll be fine. If still u can't get temps down the u have a crooked hs inside the cpu and there's nothing u can do about it.

I'm also pretty shure that the second core is your gpu and that speedfan just labeled it core, well because its the graphics core.
In a HTPC environment i would not recommend that all your fans blow inside the case.
In my case it was the best to let all fans blow hot air outside the case, so you might try that.
I think having at least one fan blowing hot air outside is very important.

You might also try to do some undervolting using Rightmark CPU Clock Utility or programs like that and do a dynamic undervolting/underclocking.
At idle my x2 4600+ is running at 1.2Ghz and when speed is needed it switches to 2.4Ghz - reduces heat and energy consumption.

Still your temperatures are nothing to worry about and you might also consider to do nothing at all ;-)

just an update, everest reported that the 2nd core was indeed my graphics card, so now im a happy bunny as it looks like my new heatsink is working properly, and my cpu is now running at 38-39deg under normal use. :D

    Hello there,

Nice to see you're happy with your temps. Have you tried to remove the fan from the Scythe Ninja mini itself and use only the 2 case fans ?

I am cooling my E4600 with a similar Scythe Ninja mini (passive), and I found no difference in temperatures (or almost) while the noise went down a notch removing that fan. I am only using 2x8 cm fans on the back of my case, plus the PSU fan of course, that may make the difference.

    Give it a try...

hi, yeah if theres not much temperature difference in removing the CPU fan then thatll be my next move i think. not really gonna get much chance to have a play around over xmas, but ill let you know how i get on. :)
