Hi,

I know this isn't exactly the right place, but I'm at my wits-end and I don't know what my system specifications are :( :(

I know I'm using the most recent Media Portal and the machine is running on Windows 7.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled Media Portal because I lost the TV guide, and then all my channels!! The channels are back but the Media Portal doesn't show TV as an option, when I open up the program.... so I'm watching TV in preview mode right now!!

Please help??

    Hi Mintie

    Thanks for posting. :D
The original problem was with your database - looks like it wasn't upgraded. That looks to be behind you now. The current issue is with the MP client so the TV Server logs that you've posted aren't going to help me figure that one out. Could you please:

    1. Find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu and start it.
    2. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs.
    3. Click "proceed" - this will create a full set of MP client logs on your desktop in a zip file named like "MediaPortal....zip".
    4. Post that zip file here.

Once again, big apologies for the hassles. It should be possible to get things working pretty quickly once I have seen the client logs.

    Hi again Mintie

It looks to me like the TV plugin is not installed, which would explain a lot. Try this:
    1. Close MP.
    2. Download the TVPlugin.dll from -->here<-- and put it in the plugins\Windows subdirectory of your MP install folder (by default, something like C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows).
    3. Replace the 4 DLLs that start with "Tv" or "TV" in the base MP install folder (by default, something like C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\) with the DLLs from the TV Server install folder (by default, something like C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\).
    4. Open MP configuration, go to the "plugins" section of and ensure the TV and radio plugins are enabled.
    5. Go to the "TV" section and configure the TV Server hostname as per the details -->here<--. Use a proper IP address or computer name, *not* localhost or 127.0.0.1.
    6. After that, click OK to close MP configuration.
    7. Copy the gentle.config file from C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\ into C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\. Note both of those folders are hidden folders so paste the patch into Windows Explorer or enable viewing of hidden and system files and folders.

After that, all being well you should be able to view TV again in MP.

[Edit: If there are no TV/Tv DLLs in the MediaPortal base install folder (step 3) then the ones you want are TvBusinessLayer.dll, TvControl.dll, TVDatabase.dll, and TvLibrary.Interfaces.dll]

Hiya - this has all worked, except for the TV host part - I've entered the name of the host, and it's asking me to "specify the IP address or host name of the master TV service"

The "current setting" is the correct name already??

    Sorry for being so dim!

    Hi again Mintie

No need to apologise, but I am struggling to follow what you mean. Do you mean that you entered the hostname in MP configuration but that when you started MP and went to the TV Section it still asked you for the host name of the master TV service?

Yes - that's right. It shows me the hostname I entered in the MP config, asks me to change it but doesn't allow any changes (the input panel is scrambled).... I know the host name is correct...
