Hi.
Just to keep this written down anywhere...
A Plex Plugin for MP2 Server could be great as MP2 server can be used by all Plex clients available out there...
If this is possible it will bring MP2 to another huge userbase...
Not my personal need but I heard about a lot in forum lately..

This was meant as a Server Plugin so every Plex device can use MP2 Server as (Plex) Media Server...
Then there is no need for a Client plugin at all as every MP2 client can use all media from MP2 Server DB anyway...

Isn't a DLNA-Server already in development?
I know McGoober making a break, but I think he will continue his work.
Is there any advantage in Plex?

I'm not that much into plex myself. I'll placed this request as some people (e.G. @kiwijunglist) ask for that. But afaik there are lot of Plex devices like TV and STB that explicit need a Plex Server if you want to use those features...

I was suggesting a mp plex channel plugin for plex server

The following devices can watch media off plex channels:
Samsung Smart TV, LG Smart TV, Roku, Google TV, Andoid, iOS, Win7 phone, Win8 phone, Rasp Pi (RasPlex), Mac PC, Linux PC. Also I think some smart NAS can also stream plex channels.

I'm not sure if you can create a plex channel without having plex server. I think you need plex server installed. The development looks easier than create a DLNA/uPNP plugin as plex server has a channel API.

DLNA/uPNP would obviously be better because
1. We aren't relying on other software
2. More devices

It's just an idea to try incorporate extenders...
A DLNA output plugin and MP2 input plugin for MPExtended might be even better that way we give DLNA to both MP1 & MP2 at the same time.

I was just curious, what funktion Plex will bring to improve MP2.

I already tested Plex some months ago as a complement to MediaPortal 1. First it made a very good impression on me. The Server side looks nice, it runs smooth and configuration was quite easy.
Unfortunately there was no Plex client plugin for my Panasonic Smart-TV. Because of this, using Plex as an DLNA Server became terrible for me.Due to the lack of any other devices that have compatibility to Plex Plugin, I couldn't tell if it offers any advantages over similar software.

Of course, if someone have supported devices, he will maybe have an completly different experience then me.

Now I'm hoping MP2 will get a a satisfying solution for DLNA.

Personally I would love it if I could use the Plex server I have installed on my NAS (it is by far the best server software I have tried) and use MP2 instead of the Plex frontend, which is mediocre.
