Hello,

Recently I have replaced my ATI3450 graphics adapter with an ATI4550 graphics adapter. Since then deinterlacing on DVD video is very poor. I use the PowerDVD8 decoder with dxva and I have enabled vector adaptive deinterlacing in CCC.
When I select BOB deinterlacing in CCC, deinterlacing looks much better. Of course, BOB is not the best possible deinterlacing method. Thin horizontal lines an TV logo's are flickering, which is typical for BOB.

I think this is related to MP or the way how MP interacts with VMR9/DirectX, because (vector adaptive) deinterlacing in PowerDVD player looks perfect.

What is wrong? Strange thing is, that with my formerly used ATI3450 graphics adapter deinterlacing on SD content within MP was perfect.

Ive tried all CCC versions from 8.11 to 9.6 without result!

Please find attached the logs. These logs are created in debug mode while playing a DVD in MP which poor deinterlacing.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Nico

    Hello,
I have the same problem: Watching DVD's with my HD4550 graphics card, Cyberlink video decoder and any of the adaptive deinterlace options, like motion or vector adaptive, gets blocks of horizontal lines over the screen around moving objects. I have tried different versions of ATI drivers (8.5 to 9.6) and cyberlink decoders (7.3 and 9.0) without improvements. Live TV (DVB-C) and recorded videos have very good deinterlacing quality with the same Cyberlink decoder.

One possible (but not perfect) solution for me is to use the NVIDIA video decoder, I had installed long time ago on my system, for DVD only. With this decoder I get a good deinterlacing, but the DVD start is very slow - it takes about 1,5 minutes to get the first picture.

I guess, that there are problems with the "film mode recognition" on DVD's, so that the inapproriate deinterlacing method will be used in the DVD player with Cyberlink codec.
