Summary:

Having a Pseudo-PiP on MP 1 without modifying original core.

Area:

TV Plugin

Description:

Ok,

I've been searching on the internet this info but I couldn't find it. Some time ago, searching through lots of forums, I found a guy that was able to have a Pseudo-PiP for MCE.

The idea was like this:

Start TV mode.
Record a show.
Play that same show.
Fast Forward to LIVE.
Then go back to TV mode and change channels, while you have a small PiP window showing the first show and the second show running full screen.

You will find a few similar workarounds, but the involve running "WMP" and MCE together. IM NOT TALKING ABOUT THOSE WORKAROUNDS . I am talking about one were you play the file in MCE and the TV at the same time. Im pretty sure I've seen it in my system, running in a similar way with either one of these programs (MP, XBMC or MCE) playing a normal movie (not a recording) and with TV on.

SO, Here is the thing! Do you thing its possible to make a pluging, that runs like a macro doing; "Record current channel, then go to recordings, play current recording, fast forward to live, then go back to TV current channel" ???
This way wouldn't need a full real PiP support of the core.

Thanks for your time.

PD: I know Real PiP its not supported by MP1 and It would be in MP2 but, for the meantime it might be a nice solution.:D

MP1 core / video player wont support two concurrent video streams -> you would have to write a extra plugin that would do all the graph handling, video frame drawing etc.

In short it would be a huge task.

ah, ok, sorry! I thought it could happend, as I remember reading somewhere about a bug where a user was playing a movie, then moving back from full-screen to the movie list and having a small screen still running the movie. Then trying to play a second movie (alone) but he was complaining about the second movie being on full-screen and the first one still running at the same time. And I thought at the time he meant on that small screen and/or that could have been used for doing the pseudo-PiP.

But I understand that spending time to create the PiP on MP 1 would be a waste of time, when its going to be on MP 2, and the recoding of MP1 would take resources from the actual coding in MP2. So ... Thanks for your time guys!!! And we will see what happens with MP 2. Im excited to see the improvements of the rewrited new core for MP.
