Possible to have PC auto turn on for record (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

Wondering if its possible to setup media portal so PC will auto turn on for a scheduled recording (and perhaps auto switch off when complete)

I have set BIOS to allow PCI devices turn PC on, so hardware wise it should be ok, but couldnt see how you could set it up software wise in MP?

Also is it possible to have remote power button power on PC instead of manually hitting power button?

I'm using DVICO remote connected to tuner card at the moment. I also have the case remote which is IRTRANS USB

This should properly work with your system. Please go to Setup->Plugins and activate and configure Powerscheduler. That should be all you need to do.

on the remote power button thing, it depends on what that hardware does, you need some sort of connection to your PCs power button from your remote related hardware. for example, you might have a wire connected between the PCI card and the power button connector on the motherboard (with the original connected to the PCI card maybe). USB remotes don't support power on but some PCI/tuner card remotes do.

That's not quite true, if you're talking about powering on from a totally powered off state then I'm not quite sure, but USB remotes can power on from standby or hibernation (which I assume is what is required for PowerScheduler to correctly work anyway), there should be a setting in your BIOS called 'Wake on USB', which you need to turn on, I'm using a MCE remote on 2 machines and they both wake up when I press the power button.
