Possible to make MP a complete package-deal? (1 Viewer)

First thing first: Hail to the developers who uses so much of their sparetime to create & improve MP and its plugins/skins!

But....Isn`t there a way to make MP a "all-in-one" package-deal? Make an installation file which includes the most common (and established) skins and plugins, letting the users choose whatever they want. Thereby, all further updates (for instance my-tvseries releases a new stable version) comes via an online check?

Hows that for a future plan? (maybe for MP2?)

Nope, never going to happen with MP1.0

Reasons are, that MP itself can be quite stable for users, the addition of plugins are the main reason for the issues that are reported, these we have no control over, so we would rather leave them outside the main download.

One of the good things we have done in recent months, is incoporated the main plugin developers into team-mediaportal, so we have much more input from them directly, this benefits all of us, as they have ideas on how things should be handled in MP's core, but still wish to be independant in their own coding, but they also directly know the limitations that MP1.0's design has on the team as well :(

    Roll on MP2 :)

Kinda off topic, but for MP2 is it possible to integrate the Media Player Classic Homecinema filters, as you did with the aac one? The reason being is that they support DXVA.
Of course they can be easily disabled but it saves people buying PowerDVD etc just to accelerate HD video.

Now that's the stupid thing, I bought PDVD9 Ultra and found I could not select h.264 in MP config, so downloaded the trial and that allows you to select it , so I would say its the exact opposite.

ps. i never bothered registering the trial version, the player itself will not work, but that does not stop you using the codecs :)

You may need to tell the registry to use dxva for these codecs, default is not enabled.

Should be done by MP config in "PowerDVD filter section. CAn you double check please ?

Yep, does update registry values to whatever is set in MP config\directshow filters\PowerDVD, so no problem there, just me being over zealous :)

Does anyone know off-hand what the PowerDVD 9 codec will accelerate? I've been playing H.264 files with it, with DXVA supposedly turn on. No acceleration seen. This is using XP, EVR and a GeForce 8600 GT. MPC-HC does a great job with DXVA for me. So no reason to move, I suppose.
