PowerDVD 11 (1 Viewer)

I just installed PowerDVD in my computer. I just have one question. Is it a good idea to use this as my main media player thruogh MediaPortal since it can up-scale all my video files, if so what is the best set-up when using PowerDVD 11.

What do you mean with upscaling? Display sd movies on a higher resolution as they are? Every software player does that. Even MP. You can use the pdvd 11 codecs in MP for every format thats supported. I wouldnt recommend an external player.

Have a Look in the Configuration in the codec section.

I went to the codecs section and couln't find the codecs from PowerDVD. How would i set-up MediaPortal to upscale all my movies
to 1080p. I have a hd projector. If a can do this without using PowerDVD that would be great.

That would have been my advice too. Don't forget to write a PM to Hoborg and ask him for unlock.
Otherwise Cyberlink codec isn't installed.

Thanks for all your help. Just one question. I installed saf. now to get my videos to 1080p do i leave the codec to go to powerdvd. do i need to do any changes in the powerdvd program (the same way if i was wacthing a movie from powerdvd)
or do i leave everything alone and it will do it's upscalling through MediaPortal

No you dont have to change anything in Powerdvd. Just set Cyberlink Video Decoder as codec for Mpeg and h.264 in the Mediaportal configuration. Be sure to also expand the settings and enable dxva for Cyberlink codec within MP.

Thanks for your help. Where in MP settings do i enable dxva.Also i'm running my sound to my amp. What is the best sound settings for that. (in video)
