I have managed to rip my copy of the dark knight blu ray onto my hdd and got it down to 27gb... I have managed to get it playing in MP on my gaming rig, not my htpc to test it but after selecting the powerdvd 8 h264 codec and setting it to use h/w acceleration it doesn't seem to work... it uses the codec but my cpu goes to 100% so obviously h/w acceleration isn't being used... anyone know why this has happened or how to fix it... I know this is on the wrong rig but my thinking is if it wont work properly on a quad core gaming rig then it wont work at all on my htpc... I cant get to the htpc now as its being used so if no one knows why i'll just have to do some testing 2morrow...

Posting to subscribe. I had the same problem before. I got so frustrated that I just ended up uninstalling PowerDVD.

If there's an answer to this, I'd like to know as well.

Are you watching the ripped blu-ray directly in Mp without minimizing, using the PowerDVD 8 H264 codec? I'm trying to find a way to mount and view my movies within MP without an third party software.

yh i am watchin it directly in mp jus that i cant get it to use h/w acceleration... how i did it was rip the blu ray files using anydvdhd, use tsmuxer to extract the video and audio stream i want, to make the file smaller, into either m2ts or ts... then i can go to my videos and play it in mp...easy :)

Thanks Crazyfool, does it take long to mux the video and audio? Do you still get the same quality and the same codecs like TrueHD and DTS-HD Master?

takes about 20 mins on my main q6600 rig... it doesn't affect the quality it just allows you to select which audio streams you want for example truehd etc... which lowers the file size as you dont need every audio stream... so for instance i select the english dd stream , the english subtitle stream and thats it

Did you solve your H/W issue?

This is exactly how I plan to play the ripped BD files, have you tried other programs like TMT, KPlayer, BSPlayer, etc.? Like to know which codec works the best or the least amount of issues.

Thanks,
Jaz

nah i only have powerdvd but under mp 1.0 I managed to get it working using the powerdvd codecs with h/w and a cpu usage of 15% :) ... that was on my gaming rig tho but at least i know its possible... once i've ironed out a few issues on myhtpc i'll be giving this a go again
