Hi All

Just made the move from Vista Media Centre to MediaPortal and simply cant get the MP software to suspend or resume. I've spent quite a lot of time going through all the forums but after a few days I've not really made any progress. The frustration is I'm comming under pressure to put back VMC as a MediaCentre that dosen't wake to record is really no good :-(

Anyway, I've setup the modules in the TVserver and MP client as per instructions .. and I get the following text in the error log every min

TvEngine.PowerScheduler.PowerScheduler.CheckForStandby()
at TvE2009-06-25 22:45:36.627558 [Powerscheduler Timer]: Exception :confused:ystem.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: The added or subtracted value results in an un-representable DateTime.
Parameter name: value
at System.DateTime.AddTicks(Int64 value)
at System.DateTime.Add(Double value, Int32 scale)
at TvEngine.PowerScheduler.Handlers.XmlTvImportWakeupHandler.GetNextWakeupTime(DateTime earliestWakeupTime)
at TvEngine.PowerScheduler.PowerScheduler.get_NextWakeupTime()
at TvEngine.PowerScheduler.PowerScheduler.get_DisAllowShutdown()
at Tngine.PowerScheduler.PowerScheduler.OnTimerElapsed(Object sender, ElapsedEventArgs e)

Had no power issues under Vista Media Centre - I've also tried MST power and that didn't really help and MPstandbyhandler

The system just remains powered on - I can see Idle being flagged in the logs, the TV server will shut down but it makes never makes it any further than that.

MST tells me that there are no resources preventing sleep

Further, if I power down to 'suspend' with the power button it will all shut down but just not wake to record.

Finally, If I try and 'Suspend' from MP exit .. the TV Server will stop but the MP client does not close and the system does not close down.

Anybody got any idea's on this because I'm all out.

.. its the latest downloadable install

Many thanks in advance

Is the asnwer here...

Hi,

i started the other forum, and initially founf=d the same error.

It appears (and correct me developers if I am wrong) that your definition needs to be inside the 24 hour window.

I had originally defined a window for suspend from 18 to 07 so say that outside our normal home p.c. usage, you can power it on/off if it is not bing used.

But I have found that changing the definition to 06 to 23 worked... and in fact now its set to 1 to 23...

I'm not sure that there is a way (yet at least) to cross the 24 hr midnight boundary) and there appears to be no validation for the various input parameters... which I would have thought would be the initital place to reject an invalid input.

Additionally.... If you use XMLTV and scheduler together.... I was pained with the effort to get the import to work. I had scheduled a dummy tv record to run, with a XMLTV grad set for 5 minutes later.... But this morning, I found a plugin under the Media Protal config ( as opposed the TV server) which had a XMLTV wakeup plugin... Setting that for 2 minutes prior to the xmltv time.

So now, the MP scheduler wakes up the p.c. from Suspend, and then TV Server performs the download and import 2 minutes later. Should this be included in the MP doco to save some heart ache. Both the Power Scheduler and the XMLTV are included as part of the MP 1.0.2 distribution. They should be documented to work together.

It appears for all the rich features of MP, some are finding the info to set it up just too much. I think my wife is starting to bear a grudge that i ever discovered it.

My thoughts on this nearly great product!

Thanks again...

HEATH
