Prevent played file to be added to DB (1 Viewer)

I read the forums every day and get a lot of interesting info from it. Been meaning to publish the story of my MPbox, might get to it some day...

My question is the following. I have created folders in My Music called
_artists
_billboards
_classic
_soundtracks

I mostly use the Artist view, as I have the impression that using the db is much quicker than the share view (over 10k songs). To avoid having an artist entry for every single artist that sings a song in one of the soundtracks, I don't index the _soundtracks, nor the _classic for obvious reasons, nor the _billboards.

If I go to shares view, I have access to the rest and can play a whole Soundtrack. But the database adds this album and so I get an entry for every artist.

I fiddled with the settings from My Music setup (running latest SVN) but found no way to avoid played tracks to be added.

As an alternative I thought of changing the artist in Various Artists everywhere, but then I lose this information for display in Now Playing window...

Any clues on a way around my issue ?

Sorry, currently we add every song which is played out of the share view to the database.
Need to go through the code to see, if simply adding a switch would help.

If it's doable to add a configuration parameter, that would be great !

I guess this would also be useful for people playing music from USB stick or hard drive.

Funny, the option was already there, but somehow the code got disabled.
activated it again.

In Configuration -> Music -> Player Settings uncheck "Use ID3 tags ...."
this prevents the Tags from being added to the Database.

fix is available in the next Public SVN build.
