When I use the autoscan feature on my analog tuner card, I get previews of the channels as it runs through the spectrum. The preview window is not there when autoscanning on the digital tuner card.

This isn't a serious issue, but I kind of like the preview window, so if it could be enabled for the digital tuners as well... It also makes the process a bit more uniform and friendly (if you don't always trust the progress bar to mean something is working and like other visual cues to be really comfortable).

Unlike analogue tuning though, there is no need for a preview window. You dont have to assign the digital channels to logical channel names so there is little point seeing what channel is currently being showed. It would also slow the process down somewhat.

I may be doing everything wrong, but here's why this doesn't seem to make sense:

    1. I had to edit the analog channel names in the channel setup window where there is no preview of the channel. Maybe I could do these edits in the autoscan area, but I didn't see where.

    2. I did have to change the channel names of the digital channels, as they were not pulled down the same as what was in the zap2it database so the TV Guide was not right until I changed them.

Anyway, it seems to me like the preview window is mostly fluff, so I can understand why this wouldn't take priority. However, for simplistic people like myself, having the autotune screen look different between cards raises doubts. It is simply one of the UI changes I would suggest regardless of the performance hit. Utilizing the preview window in each channel editing window is another thought.

Thing is though, would you really want to slow down the UI of configuration that much?

While analogue channels are rather speedy, DVB channels take a long time to tune and if you adding 3-4 seconds per window, I think that would frustrate people more.

Then it's a mixup between zap2it and your service provider as MediaPortal uses names that are provided by your service provider in the stream.

Maybe. Depends on the person I suppose. Also, the more I use a program the more frustrating things like previews become, as they take time and I already know the next five steps by heart and would rather not wait. From this perspective, I can understand why this would not be ideal. I was originally thinking of a one-time config, but the more people play with settings the worse this would annoy.
