Problem with 3rd Tuner (2 Viewers)

Hi,

I have a working system with a dual tuner card (S2 & T2). To provide more flexibility, I have tried to add a USB terrestrial tuner (T1)

The card is recognised by Mediaportal and is added to the list in the server. I have given it a lower priority than the other tuners

I wasn't sure whether I needed to tune this card or whether it would use the tuning data already created. A quick test showed that the tuner wasn't offering a service so over the last few days I have been trying to get it to successfully scan Each time it will say (for each frequency) that there is no signal and no channels found.
It is using the frequency table for my local transmitter (Rowridge) using frequencies which I recognise

Obviously I have tried switching the leads. I have also installed Mediaportal on a laptop, plugged in the usb tuner and successfully scanned the channels. So the USB tuner is working. But when plugged back into my HTPC, Mediaportal still says there is no signal for each frequency scanned

So I have come to the end of the road on this. I hope someone can give me some pointer on this

Hi Branksome,

Is your tuner using the same Rowbridge tuning details as the laptop? Due to Digital Switch Over there could be a discrepancy in tuning details between your regular MP setup and the more recently installed one on the laptop - just a thought.

just to exclude things I'd take out the S2/T2 card and just try the USB one alone in the system....just to be sure the card itself works in exactly this system and it is only related to the coexistence of all three tuners. Did you try to give it the highest priority?

I can add an update to this. I did try a 4th tuner (another usb terestrial tuner but a different make) and the same problem was still there- 'no signal' when try and scan

But I have now resolved the problem and I post this to aid others. In order to be able to scan a newly added terestrial tuner one has first to re-scan the original tuner. Once that has been done, the scan on the new tuner can then proceed

So just so we are sure what you are saying, you had to 1st retune your dvb-s card, and then tune using your dvb-t usb one

The on-board tuner card is a combined S2 and T2 card. The added usb tuner is a T1. I had to do a new scan on the T2 tuner and then for the first time when doing a scan on the usb tuner I didn't get 'no signal' message and it found the channels
