I swear, on this MP4 problem I have I'm about to outlaw all containers but MKV on my system and mkvmerge everything. I've already redone all the m2ts off my Sony HD Camcorder. It was very therapeutic.

Just make a Ghost image of your system before messing with it. Then you can do a complete restore after you have finished the test. I always Ghost my system before making any changes, it is a great way to get peace of mind.
