Have a DreamBox 500S (gemini).

I'm a linux freak so streaming to a NFS volume no problem.

Got my mediaportal server running XP SP2 and all security patches.

Firewall turned off.

Got a share on XP box which I can access from other Windows machines, no problem.

But when I try to mount to the share trough samba, insite web interface or trought a terminal, it won't let me in.

Got the same usernames and passwords on the windows box as the one I try with insite linux.

XP don'n care about the username, can connect with everything from other windows machines.

Any ideas.

Hi there.

Samba don´t work in Gemeni or all the other images for DB500.....
For some reason it is removed, but the option (checkbox) is still there in the web-interface.

You could try to use CIFS mount against the Sambaserver instead......
- that should work.....
(It works for me running a Samba-server on my DB7020, and mounting it on my DB500 with CIFS)

Try use a CIFS mount from the Communications Setup/Mounts.

Dir="your sharename on the XP box"
LocalDir=/hdd
Options=rw
Extra=nolock,rsize=8192,wsize=8192

In your share you have to have a writeable dir called "movies" also, in that the recordings will be saved.

I had a 500C but the NIC in those boxes are really useless. Artifacting and glitches when recording on a network drive is unavoidable. I exchanged it for a 600 and no problem what so ever.

Ok, only diff. from your post is my block size 4096.

I want a 600 to, or i want MP to show me the channels, with a DVB-S card insite and CardShare from my DB 500.

Try.

Those blocksizes are not that important though, however i think the login names can be a problem if they include foreign language characters, make a simple username with admin rights on the XP puter to test maybe?
