Hi,
Have been having all manner of crashes, lock ups etc with MP since I purchased my new MB a few weeks ago.
Have been playing with permutations of settings (there are many
) and have found one that makes a difference to stability on my PC.
Most of my crashes occur when changing channels or closing the small preview window (by hitting stop on the remote control) to close active video (which might be from TV or recorded Mpegs.) The crash manifests itelf as a black screen. I think MP is still working underneath but picture is a tad dark - pitch black some would say.
When full screen exclusive mode is ticked in the VRM9 settings menu then I get a repeatable crash. In fact, so repeateable that MP is essentially unusable.
If I untick the Full screen exclusive mode tick box then no crashes ......... so far - but the night is young.
.
Any idea what might be offending the full screen exclusive mode and causing the crashes???? Are there additional things needed to make it work.
Picture quality isnt bad without it ticked. Tearing is rare when hardware accelleration on the ATI decoder is enabled but I have recent graphics hardware which claims DX10 compatibility etc so I suppose it should just work.
Also I have heard this EVR thing is supposed to be better for video. It it as simple as adding .NET3 to XP MCE and ticking EVR mode or is vista really needed?
Kev
