Problem with modifying Blue Two Wide (1 Viewer)

My first step into modifying skins left me with a couple of questions.

1. How do I use the Blue Two Wide as a template without changing the original skin? Can I just copy and rename it?
2. I changed some xml files and the changes seem to work fine but... after that when I want to start Mediaportal setup its reinitianalizing itself. The deleted mediafiles are back and the modified home screen is back to its original settings too. It looks like btw is restoring itself!
3. Sometimes the skin doesn't load well because it misses the myHome.xml file. But there is also a normal home.xml file. Which one should I modify?
4. When I change the xpos and ypos of the homescreen menu it does not show it in Mp (I deleted the cache) I want the homescreen to look more like MCE2005. I was able to lose the pictures and glass frame though.
5. Is there a way to play a welcome sound when starting Mp? (I used to use MCE and modified its skin via MyThemesMCE. I used a very nice heroic sound at start up.0

Any help is welcome. :)

Yes - just copy and rename the skin's folder.

Did you maybe apply an svn update after that which has overwritten your modifications? Or did you change some cached files which were re-generated?

    The home screens are myHome.xml and myPlugins.xml + BasicHome.xml

BTW: Did you already find the "refresh plugin"? This makes skin editing alot easier!

    thanks for your reply.

No I did not apply an svn update and I did not change any cached files. I just change the xml files and delete the cache before I restart MP. But perhaps this will not occur anymore after I rename the skin.

    Why is there a home.xml file if I should modify the myHome.xml and myPlugins.xml + BasicHome.xml files?

Yes I found the plugin. Will try it as soon as I am done writing this post
