Hello!
I have a problem with my Mediaportal installation and couldn't find anything in this forum about it. Everything works fine except of playback video. If i enter the videodirectory - on a samba share - and click the video, the screen gets black and starts flickering. After a while i can hear the video-sound. No video is shown. If i press esc to leave the video the screen stays black and the mediaportal "window" is shown in a very little box, about 1/8 size of the screen in the left-down corner. I think this is a resolution problem, so i played around with the zoom or videosize preferences, but had no luck. I use mediaportal RC1 with the latest svn update. Is this the problem? Can i remove the update without installing mediaportal completly new? Or is it a problem with my nvidia card?

All above may give you problems as they are below the recommended specifications, re the samba shares, does local video file play, if not then i would put money on the graphics card + memory being the cause, rather than a streaming issue.

    :sorry:

    Hi again!
I checked this issue and replaced the graphics card with a newer one (geforce 6400) and put in additional memory, so i have 1GB at the moment. The Problem is still there...
I can playback DVD Video, but cannot watch movies from my samba share. I tried to watch them via vlc and it worked properly. So i think it could be a codec problem?

As 'Paranoid Delution' asked.....have you tried playing a local-file and not from the samba-share, I'm asking because many users complain that MediaPortal doent handle files on "shared" directories very well...
