Skin: PM III
Windows Version: Windows XP Pro SP2
CPU Type: AMD Sempron 2800+ @ 2,4Ghz

Motherboard Chipset: VIA chipset, ASUS mobo
Video Card: Ati Radeon 9250 128MB
Video Card Driver: latest official
Video Card Resolution: 1024x768
Video Render Type: VMR9

Extra: I don't! use ripping in background and have the latest LAME codec installed.

Synopsis:

I put a official (bought) CD in my cd drive and try to rip it. Sometimes MP can find the CD information on the internet, sometimes it does not respond to the request of getting the information at all.
If! downloading the information succeeds I try to rip the CD to MP3(all configurations are done correctly in setup). Most of the time MP starts ripping the CD and finishes succesfully. Sometimes MP starts ripping and stops halfway the process. Sometimes MP won't rip at all.
If I try to rip another CD, after the first one is completed succesfully, the dialogbox appears for half a second and then...nothing happens. i can keep pushing the button. Same effect...all the time.

I would realy like to MP3 my complete CD collection, but this section in MP is very instable. Maybe someone with the needed knowledge could take a look at it?

Nothing unstable there, no change there since quite a long time. Working ok here. Maybe a local config problem? Or bad drive? Or greasy disk? Or copy protection?

Could it be skin related?

The first rip works most of the time. I try to rip a second CD....doesnt work.... I restart MP and the same CD get ripped as aspected. This is the way it works almost always. In this case it can't be copyright protection...can it?

Is it maybe possible to implement an error message. Maybe only a general error, like 'something went wrong if ripping fails due to CD protection or CD damage. Then I would know that it has something to do with the CD, not with MP.

    Hi,
Tested with MP 0.2RC4 + mediaportal-svn-05-18-2006--01-03, skin BlueTwo.

    5 cd's & all ripped without problems.
Is there any error in the error.log or anything in mediaportal.log that tells where it stops?

    Regards
    Roy

just to give Bram some support, I had this effect, too. I tested it right when it was implemented, so I can´t give more details. It worked on some CD´s on some not.

Sorry, but I won´t be able to do any tests before my holidays, so just a hint that this happened for me, too.

I couldn't rip a CD the other day because it had two sessions, one with data (movies and pictures of the group).

But I don't like these kind of titles containing caps and not so clever words :?

removing the "VERY" would have been enough ;)

    Thanks for your understanding.
