Recording TV does not usually produce stutter unless there is something seriously wrong. This is because recording hardly uses any system resources (with the exception of software analog encoders, which is not relevant as the hvr1300 uses a hardware encoder). Playback (decoding) can introduce stutter if the software is not setup correctly or if the playback hardware is not up to spec. Sorry. I don't know what is wrong with your setup and I don't know if it's a faulty tv tuner, bad drivers, bad signal or a MediaPortal problem. The only other helpful thing I could suggest is upload a sample 20mb recording to www.sendspace.com for us to check out.
