What is the best way to add content to the Movies database?

If I add a show manually, MP will not recognize it until I scan the whole share where it resides, which takes ages. In addition, it screws up stuff that I had previously edited (it "corrects" it with wrong data from IMDB, or adds a double entry.)

Also, if it doesn't find something in IMDB, it creates an "Untitled" thumbnail, which doesn't show up in the Edit list, so I can't edit it and fill in the missing information.

So now I have a whole bunch of untitled icons for random shows (like all the Sopranos) which I cannot edit and about which no info is available indicating what they are. The only way to tell is to play each one, stop it, and then when I scroll over it shows the file name (from which I can guess what show/episode it is.) Not very elegant:-(

Any ideas?

May 30 nightly build, (same with Testrelease 0.2 RC4.)
Using Razor, but same with all 16x9 skins.
XP MCE (SP 2)
Mac Mini Dual Core Intel 1.66
On-board video (Intel 950GM)
1072x600
NVIDIA Video and Audio Codec
VMR 9
WMP 10 (but WMP 9 selected in MP (no WMP 10 choice))
No TV card

No, you're not the only one with this problem MacMini - I have a similar problem with the movie database and IMDB.

I have "The Hire" series on my computer. the names of the files are "The Hire - star.wmv" etc... and I can search for the series in IMDB and have its results displayed, yet in MP I get results from a completely different movie with a different picture upon searching.

I havent found a solution yet, but on the other hand I havent actively set time aside to try and resolve this issue or at least diagnose it better.

same issue here. the IMDB labelling is VERY slow, and lots of times incorrect

Battlestar Galactica is what's choking it for me

Probably the wrong thread but one more place to say it: Please allow for media to be added in database (video and audio databases) WITHOUT ANY on-line search if the user wants that. Now if I say my famous "it should be simple" will I be wrong? (it probably is just some 2-3 lines of code to add a configure.exe tick to DISABLE something and add some default values)

    Thank you for listening.

ON topic, my video database import just crashes on the first video (ANY video). And I have ALL on-line searches removed (yet it still seems to look on IMDB on its own). I have already submited details in testteam.

Man, I've been playing with this for a while now and it is the one thing that really mars an otherwise great app.

Hope someone reworks this soon, 'cause it ain't working. Just between Lost and the the Sopranos I have about blank 50 items that I can't edit and the only way I can find out what they are is to play each one of them. Right now, I am afraid to add anything to the database and run the update, 'cause it will update and screw up all of my manual edits. :-(((

_ you can manually add data to the movie database via configuration--> movie--> Database --> Editor or
_ since its an .db3 you can edit it with any mySQLbrowser (like the one included with mediaprtal: in \docs\ - folder
_ If I'm right the mediaportal webinerface is also including a movie database editor....

This is main problem that disgurages me from using MP. The main thing I want to use it for is a PVR and to have a database of my movies and TV shows to be able to browse and watch. Everything else is just a bonus.

Importing movie data into the database is a nightmare and there is no way I am going to manually enter it for hundreds of movies. Once this feature is ironed out and is fast a smooth, MP will be a much better app IMHO.
