Problems with channel 5... and recording (1 Viewer)

We have been using media portal for about a week now and have fallen in LOVE. it is such a beautiful program. i have been following it since 1.3 and it come such a long way. Anyway...

Synopsis:

Well, I can get every station flawlesly except channel 5 and bbc four. on these 2 the image is very stuttery and somes displays 'No signal'. I know i can deffinatly recive these channels well and i have tried them with the other compro dtv player (which is crap, but works) and i recive them fine. I have no idrea why this could be.

ALSO

I have the problem that when i try to use both tuners either with recording or watching and recording it says all the tuners are busy. So in the end i can only really use 1. I have the 2 cards set up in the settings.

i have no idea what to do so can you please help meeeee. lol

ok so there we go aprat from that it works flawlesly, i take mty hat of to the devs and i thank you so much.

Hi Glitch

This definately sound like a weak signal problem, I have it intermitantly dependant on the weather.
If you have not got a fully compatible digital aerial/cable installation as per the broadcast regulations, or in a weak signal area, then there are variances between the different transmission signals.
Also different freeview boxes have better signal control, ie my daughters samsung box will receive pictures clearly, while our main philips box will not.
Don't kids always get the best while we suffer a poor second.

i dont understand how my other tuner program on this box can get signal and media portal cant :s .

Glitch, have you applied the "multi DVB tuner" patch?

Also, I recommend you check the frequencies of the channels that are giving you issues - you could find that they are not correct - this is a known bug with DVB cards that is partially resolved in recent SVNs. And, apply a recent SVN, as many of these general "no signal" issues have also been addressed.

i cant find the patch on that page, apprently it has been removed from that forum it was posted on. and i downloaded rc3 on thurs, is that not the latest 1?

ok so i tryed a few things and it appeard that i could not fix the channel problem. THEN all of a sudden it worked. god knows how or why but it does so now im happy. and i put the patch on for that multi dvb tuner thing, havent tried it yet but i should work. YEY YEY!!!

Run that version and if it works ok for you copy the whole MP folder to a backup. Always nice to have a working for you version of MP.
You get out, what you put in.

i just wanna say thank you now. to EVERYONE!!!

i have looked at sage and medioo for alternatives (before i had heard about MP) and this kicks there ass so much... more features, better skins, TV guide, Plugins and it goes on.

anyway lol...
