problems with Codecs and Teletext (1 Viewer)

Hi, I have successfully installed MP and have it working for DVB-T UK Freeview TV.

I have two main issues that I am after solving.

(1) I cannot seem to display or see any options for DVB-T teletext. There is no option with OSD or action menu - so what do I need to do to set this up and access it?

(2) My preferred codec is ffdshow and I have this working perfectly for DVD, Video and Music but when I choose ffdshow video and audio for TV they are not in sync, with one slightly lagging behind the other. If I use the MPC (Gabest) codec or MainConcept / Hauppauge codecs they are fine. So why does ffdshow lag with TV but not DVD/Video?

Interestingly if I use ffdshow in Hauppauge WinTV PVR software there is no lag at all, so this implies this is a problem with MP.

I am using MP 1.1.3 on W7 64bit and Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1300 PCI TV Card. I am using version 3866 of ffdshow.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

    Hi thegilpins

    I'll be brief...

I'm not too sure about this one, but the ability to view teletext and/or subtitles may depend on the codecs you use. You might also want to have a look at the TV settings in MP configuration.

I'm guessing that you're watching channels with MPEG 2 video? Take a look at -->this thread<--. The end is more interesting than the start. ;)

There is no UK teletext on freeview, only RED BUTTON mheg5 which is not supported by MP, you can still get video broadcast on channel 301.

Ffdshow is always work in progress, try following hoborg's SAF6 thread regarding some issues found, currently I use his latest test release (unlocked, pm hoborg for key file) and prefer the PDVD11 codec for all mpeg2 playback.

Thank you both for your help, especially for the link to the other thread that had a patch to fix the problem.

    Much appreciated!
