Hi guys I'm retrying Media Portal after initially giving it a look a couple of years ago when building my HTPC. I've recently bought a better TV so am looking to play Bluray and HDTV through my PC which VMC will not help me with.
But when installing I get this message:
Is this a common and fixable problem?
I installed standard installation:
Will Watch TV through Media Portal
Will Not Watch HDTV (yet)
Using the default TV server option
The installer will install Media Portal regardless of this message, but will not install MS SQL Express 2005, it just continues to say installing for hours, and doesn't move on.
The full text from the details box is:
The reason I think this is a problem is that I need Media Portal to IR Blast my Set Top Box and I believe the IRBlasters need the TV Server.
I'm using Windows Vista.
Sorry if this hasn't been too clear.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
The reason I think this is a problem is that I need Media Portal to IR Blast my Set Top Box and I believe the IRBlasters need the TV Server.
I'm using Windows Vista.
Sorry if this hasn't been too clear.
