Problems with .My file import to My Program plugin (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I have som difficulties getting the Mame emulator to work with the MyPrograms plugin.

Problem:
When i try the option to create a .my file from Mygames app and then import the file to MyPrograms i can not see any games listed. I also tried to do a refresh in MediaPortal but this doesnt help.

When i use the Directory-Browse mode instead it all works very nice indeed.

But even if i use the Directory-Browse method i usually dont see the images connected to the roms.

Has anyone experienced something similar and want to share some information?

I have already read the wiki and some other posts but nothing has helped so far.

Oh yes, im using the latest 0.1.3 version of Media Portal.

MP has full Mame support, so you don't need your my file.

as sickboy suggested, please check out the mame-direct importer first! (This is not yet in wiki, so you'll need to read the post he mentioned).

For the myGames.exe-export: Can you mail me the my-file that is not working please? I will have a look (mail: waeberd AT solnet DOT ch )

Cause the my-file export must work also (for other emulators).

Tell me if you need more help!

Hi and thanks alot for your quick replies!

I managed to get the .My file import to work by unchecking the
"qoutes around filenames" option. Maybe it creates doublequotes when importing a .My file?

I will also try the MAME direct importer later today.

Another thing i had problems with was to remove a child with the delete
button. Do you guys get this to work?

That's a bug in the 0.1.3 release, which is fixed in the CVS. So you can install the latest CVS from >>>here<<<.
Or you disable the child in the setup, then it is not shown in MP.

Installed the latest CVS and everything now works really good!

This Direct Mame importer was clearly a step forward to ease up the connection to Mame for newbies like myself!

One more question though.

Is there another source for game information than Allgames.com?
Cause that scraper did not find a good match for some of my roms..

All in all a great plugin, thanks alot!

Until now, allgame is the only scraper implemented.

For mame roms you can get nice information in the catver.ini / history.dat files.

But tell me what roms (and on what system) you mean and if you have a better suggestion for a info site. I will see what I can do!
