i just built myself a HTPC and i am new to it. When i finally boot i up onto my 42" Plasma TV, the display is out. When i configure it to 1920x1080, it got so small i cannot see the fonts. When i launch Media Portal, it look alright but when i launch movies, the size is out. Any way i can set it to 1920 x 1080 or at lease 16:9 ratio somewhere? Do i need to install display drivers for the TV? Please help gurus!

I use my 37" HD TV @1920 x 1080 with MP and yes, when you fire up Windows the normal text is a bit small from a couple of metres away. You can make Windows Text and Icons larger in Windows by changing the DPI settings (Display Properties / Settings / Advanced / General Tab / Change to 120 DPI).

MP looks fine from a distance, though. Make sure that you have all the "Allowed Zoom Modes" selected in the MediaPortal setup in Movies. I tend you use normal mode, though sometimes I need to select Original (depends on the source material).

That was a problem for me too, I want the 1920x1080 rsolution, but would like bigger fonts in Windows.
But since I only use MP (I can do everything I want in MP) it is not a problem anymore.

My movies look fine, do you have the correct videodriver installed for your videocard?

To the OP: make sure your TV is a 1080(I or P) set. I'm pretty sure most plasmas are 720p.
The htpc's resolution is set in the display driver, not MediaPortal. If your plasma is 720p, set your htpc screen res to 1280x720, which is 16:9.
My htpc is hooked up to my front pj, which is 720p, & MediaPortal (& videos) looks great.

I had to run my output (vga) to 1366x768 to achieve a 16:9 resolution that works both in Windows and in MediaPortal.

You can also set it to 1024x768 and achieve a 1:1 pixelmapped resolution but with the wrong aspect ratio. To make it look right in MediaPortal you have to run the screen calibration in settings and adjust the box so it looks like a square.
