    Hi Folks ...

after i have seen what "brother-IchEssBlumen" built
i had some ideas about a small fine case ...

    massiv ALOY ...

but first of all there should be a model ... for testing and trying out the conf of Hardware.
this model, so i decide, should be hmm kind of simple worked (don't have much tools for aluminum)
so build this model out of Acryl ...
so the real Prototyp could come later in my favorite metall material ( i love aluminum)...

    Hardware:

Mini-ITX Jetway with Geforce8200 on board
    AM2 X2 4850e
    2 Gig of Ram
LG BlueRay (that combo-drive for HD-DVD & BlueRay)
    TT-S2 3200 (with CI)
Hauppauge Nova-T (at the moment for testing in my office - don't have a Sat-Dish here)
little tiny samsung 120 Gig 2.5" HDD
öhm and for remote a logitec diNovo Multi-Media-Keyboard (very smal and cute)
as PSU i use a mini-itx Fortron FSP-180 (it is a little loud couse the 40mm cooler in but ok for the prototyp)

so well - pictures bring more than words could say ...
    so i post some - taken while i build that "plastic-prototyp" ...

target was - small ... but not too small ...
i would say hmmm compact ...

and remeber - it is a prototyp encloser kind of showcase ... ;)
next will be similar but in aluminum ...

    have fun

    did some little updates ...

    incomming a MOREX passiv.

also a VFD was installed ...

    AMD-Boxed cooling system - out
    scythe shuriken - in

    northbridge cooler (little 40mm fan)
    was also kicked out .
in came xcilence passiv cooling unit (similar to the zalman-cooler)

    [EDIT]

that VFD also gives the possibilty to switch on/off the complete HTPC wihtout anymore Hard or software.
ANTEC - VERIS ELITE IR COntroll with VFD ...
    nice little thing of Hardware.

    Hi,

I like the see through thing, always wanted to do that.

I have a box with a poor PSU and a VFD with remote that looks a lot like your VFD unit.

I cannot boot the PC from having been disconnected from the mains with the VFD connected to power.

Once it has booted once, it is fine until disconnected from the mains again.

Apperently on some boards you can adapt it to connect to a USB header to get power instead.

Not sure if this is your problem, but maybe worth a try?

    Chris

    well solve the problem ....

it is a bug on the motherboard -
the ATX connector on the MoBo seems to be a little buggie.

sometimes i touch it - the picture is getting strange colored and than i'll got freeze -
after that no reboot is possible --- but now i stabalized the cable - it works ...
(have to change the MoBo i think) ...
glad it was not the PSU couse the passiv MOREX is cool and quiet ...
and no FAN in use - is what i love @ this little HTPC :D

    also the VFD is working.

hope that the first aloy-parts will arrive at my office this week ... :D

Really Inspired by your Antec work. I used one in my custom. Here's a few pics (I still have sleeving to do).

It also has an E-MU 1212 pro audio card in it, and is basically a DAW. I'm waiting for my 4 channel mixer, it will then handle guitar pre amp MIDI keyboard and Microphone.

The main board is an MSI 890FX a GD65 16GB RAM and an Athlon x6 1100 T with a Gig of HIS Ice Q 5670.

Runs well on air at 4Ghz. Tis speedy. I also have an ATI CCT I will probably install.

    Rates 5.9 on Windows 7 x64 U. Need a 6.0 GB/sec drive. Everything else is 7.2 or 7.0 :(

Note the one-of-a-kind vertical slot loading drive.
