Question about Xbox 360 remote... (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I understand from other postings, that the Xbox 360 Universal Remote will work (at least partially) with Media Portal.

My question is, do you need an MCE2005 official remote USB receiver, in order to get your PC to pick up the signal?

I have an infra-red remote receiver for my Compro DVB-T300 remote, but it doesn't seem to be picking up the signal from the Xbox 360 remote control.

Can anybody advise on this?

i think if you want to use a non-microsoft receiver then you will need to use Girder (or equivalent) to pass the IR signals thru to MP.

the t-300 has config files for use by HIP.
Just search the HIP website (www.byremote.com from memory)

With that set up you should be able to learn the 360 commands if they are compatible.

Thanks for the responses. I thought that since the MCE2005 remote works 'out-of-the-box' with Media Portal (at least that's what I understood...), that the Xbox360 one might do the same.

Possibly a long-shot.

Trying to avoid programming all the commands. Lazy, I know.
