Hi All

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.
I'm using MP for nearly 2 years with little or no issues. My HTPC contains 2 Hauppage WinTV-HVR 5500 tuner cards. Both function OK and I can watch & record SD and HD (unencrypted ) channels via the DVB-C tuner.
The point is that recently my cable operator has announced they will change the format of the digital cable signal from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4. Anybody an idea whether this will affect my system. I'm asking the question because in the documentation of the tuner card in only mentions MPEG2 for the DVB-C tuner.

Thanks in advance

    Hello Guido

Anybody an idea whether this will affect my system.
It will be no problem for the tuner card.
The provider is changing the video encoding only. Tuners don't care about the video encoding; they only care about the stream format. Unfortunately it is easy to get confused between the MPEG 2 video encoding (which your provider will update) and the MPEG 2 transport stream format (which the tuner supports, and which your provider will continue to use).
