I've looked through most of the threads that appeared related but didn't find an answer to my general/specific question.

I purchased an HD HomeRun dual tuner and am trying to use it w/MP to view and/or record live tv.
The difference in quality is huge. Looks more like bad SD. HP8510p laptop with Vista. HDMI to LCD
television.

Is it normal for Live HD TV degrade when using a pc tuner and media center software?
If so I don't think it's worth it just to record the occasional live program......

Thanks,
Stan

The difference is huge between HD and what?

No, it is not normal that digital TV quality degrades. What the TV card should do is simply save the transport stream to a .ts file on the hard drive. This will be stored in the same quality as any set-top-box. When playing the audio/video you have a choice of different audio/video decoders but it shouldn't be much of a difference unless you use ffdshow to lower the resolution for example.
