I am very new to Media Portal and have installed it on my desktop with a view to eventually using it to replace Win7 WMC on my HTPC. This has raised a number of questions mostly on different plugins so hopefully this is not the wrong place to post this.

Bluray playback: I eventually found the "Arcsoft" Bluray Player Launcher in the forum which allows me to use PowerDVD 11.

a, What is the status of this plugin, and or native BR playback, why is it not shown in the Plugins download pages?

b, I have been able to launch a Bluray .iso with this plugin but will it also work with a disk (I don't have the hardware to check this, VGA monitor)?

    Online Vidoes:

The BBC Iplayer, and other entries, offer live TV but I have not been able to get this to work. Is anyone else able to play live TV successfully? . (A plugin on my HTPC, TunerfreeMCE, will play BBC live TV etc.)

    MyFilms:

This looks very good as it interfaces to my existing video database (MyMovies on WMC)

a, Will it continue to do so? Currently it only shows support for a very old version of MyMovies.

b, Will myFilms automatically mount (e.g. viaVirtual Clone Drive) an .iso if requested to play it?

I will much appreciate any answers, clarification, re-direction and suggestions of alternatives, as mentioned earlier I am very new to MP.

    Hi joecrow,

and welcome to the community. In general you should check out the MP 1.3 alpha, as it introduces built-in BluRay playback and an improved video database without the need for plugins.

    a) see above
    b) You might need the OnlineVideos plugin available via MP Extension Installer (can't check right now but think BBCi stuff is in there)
    c) Developer Deda is constantly adding features to the 1.3 MyVideo, making additional video databases somewhat obsolete. Check out this thread https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/myvideo-1-3-0-feedback.109314/

    Have fun with MP

Thanks for the quick response, just a couple more questions.
Where can I download MP 1.3 alpha?
Also I do have OnlineVideos installed and can access and play BBC Iplayer catchup programs it is just the live TV content that does not work. I did read somewhere on the forum, sorry don't remember where, that it is not supported at the MP level, can you comment on that?

You can download MP 1.3 alpha here (scroll all the way down)

Sorry not from the UK myself so can't access any BBC content, just remember seeing BBC in OnlineVideos while browsing. If what you need are simple streams accessible via url, that shouldn't be too hard to add for the plugin author. If a login or some other form of authorization is required, it might be harder to do.

Just put in a request over in the OnlineVideos subforum.[DOUBLEPOST=1344515017][/DOUBLEPOST]Doesn't look to good for now, at least the reason is known.

    Thanks very much again

I have installed 1.3 and see what you mean about the video database, looks good. Need to do some more checking ref. BR playback but all good so far. Its good to know someone is looking into Flash streams, hopefully they can get it working soon.

    Having fun:)
