Hello,
I just found Mediaportal last night. I have a mediaserver box by netgear that someone gave me when they could not get it to work and I got it to work ok but it still has problems sometimes. So I decided to replace it and was going to use a laptop I have around and my option and I was going to us a Linux based system since it shipped with XP and not MMC 2005, until I found Mediaportal and now I have a few questions before installation. I really only (at this point) plan on using it as a video server for kids videos to an hdtv through the composite ouput. No video recording.
1. Is my laptop up to the task
2. Can I install Mediaportal without a video capture card since at this point I do not have one and may not buy one and do not want to buy one until I see if this machine can playback video smoothly?
Thank you,
Anthony
